Salaam alaikum, My name is Abida. I am originally from Pakistan. I came in New Zealand 10 months ago. I have 2 children. I love gong out for a walk in the evenings. I usually spend my spare time doing knitting, crotchet and sewing.

I have been living in NZ for 4 years and love my life in Nelson. Making gifts in general and toys for Christmas is something I enjoy a lot. I'm so glad to be part of the opportunities Cultural Conversations provides, particularly to join in the many craft activities.

I am from Colombia and have lived in New Zealand for 5 years. I have three children at the age of 2, 12 and 18, so there is always lots going on. I am working part-time for Sealord and like the people there. I am new to Cultural Conversations and I am excited to learn new skills like sewing!

I love bright colours. I recently joined Cultural conversations and I love being a part of Global stitch up community.

I am from Colombia and have been in New Zealand for 6 years already. I have a 2 year old little toddler. Before I had my kid, I used to be a hairdresser and I was doing nails too. In New Zealand I continue doing this for my friends and planning to start to study at NMIT so I can work in my profession. I am at Cultural Conversations for the first time and I love that there is space to connect with other women and create something together.

Namaskar! I'm Harleen from the Punjab State of India. Sunny Nelson has been my home for three years. I enjoy sports and love to go to the gym at least 4 to 5 times a week. I also play basketball during the weekends. Cultural Conversations is a wonderful place for me to meet other women and join in the sewing workshops

I like outdoor activities, crafting and anything to do with art. I like literature, food and music and use to play piano and sing in a church choir back in Colombia. Here in Nelson, I go with my family out for fishing at Rock’s Road and then we have the fish for dinner. I came to Cultural Conversations to make scrunchies and learn new skills and it is a good occasion to practice my English..

I heard about Cultural Conversations through friends, and I am interested in other people’s art.
